We interrupt your sadness with a beach vacation...

Ok, so technically we weren't supposed to get here until tonight. But we got here about 4ish Monday. We couldn't take being home when Tim brought Daisy in and came home alone. So we said our very sad goodbye's to our loving pet and got in the van and drove to the beach. Tim joins us tonight and we are very excited. We really miss him. We are getting ready to go sit on the porch and check out our 25 lbs of shells we got on our approximate 4 mile walk last night. I am seriously aching right now. My poor hubby has been working like crazy and is really ready to get here and start vacation.
We are staying in a very nice beach house, so thank you Jeanie and Bill!! It's nice to be here early too because the beach is nearly empty! It's really cool. We are gonna go check out the pier tonight and walk around down near the bridge. We are hanging at the beach every day except Friday, we are going to head to the aquarium. The kids are excited because besides the fact that they love the aquarium, we get to ride the ferry. I know you probably think my kids are some deprived youngens, but it's pretty cool. Continue to pray for the kids. Amber couldn't sleep last night thinking about Daisy, and it's going to be really hard going back home and she's gone. Tim and I are debating if we should get a dog before winter or after. The kids really want one now, but we aren't sure. Anyway, my kids are going crazy to look at their shells and I'm holding them up...so blogging time's up. Have a great rest of the week and I will resume some time next week. We come back Monday and have poetry Tuesday, so it will probably be the end of the week before I get on here again. Happy Labor Day!!

Field Trip

We were lucky enough to visit a goat farm not very long ago. I have just been too busy to post about it. The goats were so cute, they reminded me of dogs! They would walk right up to you and rub on your arm or leg to get you to pet them. I wanted one, but I'm pretty sure that is a no-no in a neighborhood. Bummer. Oh well! Here are some pictures from our trip. It's hard to believe that we only have a few more weeks left and then back to school. We are all pretty excited to start back though. Claire asks me nearly every day if we can start back to school. How rewarding is that?

Eat Mor Chikin

Yesterday was Chic-fil-a's Cow Appreciation Day. If you dress like a cow, you can get a free meal! We took advantage of this opportunity! 5 People eating for free! Yay! Here are some pictures of the kiddos all dressed up in their homemade costumes.

Jamestown

Ok, here is the post about the second part of our trip: Jamestown! This is not the actual site for Jamestown. This is only the reenactment camp. The actual Jamestown settlement is not far from this place, but it is more contemplative and geared toward older children and adults. The actual foundations are buried and they built imitation foundations on top. To preserve the originals apparently. Anyway:
It was so much fun. It was so child-friendly. I wish that the boys could have even been there for this part; they would have loved it!

The girls were so amazed by everything they could touch. Here they are having a blast in the Indian Village.


Well, I have to go and feed the kids dinner. We have baseball and t-ball practices tonight and we need to get moving. Next time will be the fort and ships.

Good Friends, Good Times!

Well, I have been wanting to write about our time in Virginia in the beginning of March, so here I am!! We had such an amazing time! My friend Tracie and her 2 wonderful girls and my girls and I headed out on a Friday morning to Williamsburg.
Here are the girls outside of the Blacksmith's shop. This was our first stop. Aren't they cute in their mob caps?




Of course the moms had a great time too. Here we are trying to put a bucket together at the Cooper's.


We had a great time walking through and just enjoying the amazing weather.

After this we decided to head to dinner and then to the resort. The girls enjoyed the pool (unfortunately Claire was running a fever by the time we got to Chic-fil-a and couldn't enjoy the pool, but felt fine the next morning). Here is a picture of her being excited that she wasn't sick anymore...


We enjoyed the museum Friday morning and did a magical creature scavenger hunt. Unicorns, mermaids, griffins... The girls were very excited needless to say. We saw some great fold art and old toys, ect...


Then the girls marched in the fife and drums parade. That was pretty amazing!! HUZZAH! HUZZAH!! (That was their battle cry.)


Here is Amber sitting in the church in the seat where George Washington would sit when he attended there. This is in a "box". There was a pew behind Amber and you used the door to get into where Amber was sitting. There were 2 pews to a "box". There are kneelers that they would pull out from under the pew too.
Also, (We noticed this in Jamestown on Saturday as well) The pews are very high and these were actually boxed in with doors and the preacher would stand in an elevated pulpit so everyone could see him.

Williamsburg was the captial of Virginia, and G.W. lived in Va. so I guess it was natural for him to go there often. (He was in the House of Burgesses after all). Anyway, there were many famous names on plates, Thomas Jefferson, John Tyler, James Madison, James Monroe... It was pretty cool.

We walked around Williamsburg for the rest of the day and then grabbed some dinner.
The next day, Jamestown.
